چکیده

The steady increase in non-linear loads on the power supply network such as, for instance, variable speed motor drives (VSDs), raises questions about power quality and reliability. In this respect, a great deal of attention has been focused on harmonics as they overload the network infrastructure, cause reliability problems on equipment and system level, and waste energy. Passive and active harmonic filters are used to keep these harmonic problems in check. The use of both active and passive technology is justified. The difficulty is in how to select and deploy harmonic filters correctly, which is key to achieving a satisfactory performance. This paper explains which specifications are suitable when it comes to choosing active and passive harmonic filters and which mistakes need to be avoided. Harmonic Elimination of 25 kV AC Electric Railways Utilizing a New Hybrid Filter Structure

Thyristor rectifiers are widely used in electric railways in order to control the speed. As a consequence of their usage in addition to substantial input lead current, an enormous amount of harmonics is injected into the grid. To avoid such harmonics as well as reactive power compensation, reactive power hybrid filters consisting of active and passive filters are utilized. Regarding different p...

Integrated control of AC-DC converter with harmonics reduction and reactive power compensation for grid application

Ac to DC converter is used for operating DC electrical machine and also supplies DC power to battery which is used for many purposes. The main purpose of this project is to compensate the harmonics by using harmonic current compensation and reactive power control. If reactive power is compensate prior to system then non linearity or harmonics present in the system does not much affect the exist...

A Novel Reference Current Calculation Method for Shunt Active Power Filters using a Recursive Algebraic Approach

This paper presents a novel method to calculate the reference source current and the referencecompensating current for shunt active power filters (SAPFs). This method first calculates theamplitude and phase of the fundamental load current from a recursive algebraic approach blockbefore calculating the displacement power factor. Next, the amplitude of the reference mains currentis computed with ...
